ACS signs $1.6 billion contract to run California's Medicaid management information system
Affiliated Computer Services Inc. said Monday that it received a $1.6 billion contract to run California's Medicaid management information system.
ACS, which was purchased earlier this year by Xerox Corp., said the contract runs for 10 years.
ACS said it will be responsible for the system's operations and will move them to its ACS Health Enterprise system. This will help the state's Department of Health Care Services do things such as pay medical claims quickly and prevent program fraud and abuse, ACS said.
ACS will provide intermediary financial services as well.
ACS said that along with its technology partners IBM Corp. and CGI Group Inc. it will provide health services for more than 7 million people in California.
